Busia County and Alupe University Forge Partnership to Enhance Healthcare Education

In a significant move to improve healthcare education and service delivery, the County Government of Busia, through its Department of Health, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alupe University. This collaboration aims to strengthen the practical training of medical students by offering them hands-on experience at County health facilities.

During the signing ceremony held at Alupe University on Wednesday, Busia Deputy Governor Arthur Odera expressed the county’s unwavering support for students pursuing medical courses. He emphasized that the partnership will provide students with practical exposure, enabling them to meet the required professional standards while fostering valuable relationships within the medical community.

“This partnership will ensure that healthcare students gain practical experience from our facilities, allowing them to build the necessary skills and relationships with the medical fraternity,” Deputy Governor Odera stated.

Alupe University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Barasa, welcomed the collaboration, describing it as a significant milestone for the institution. He highlighted that the MOU would play a crucial role in enhancing the university’s research capabilities and expanding its contribution to the community of Busia and beyond.

“This partnership marks an important step for our institution. We are excited to use this relationship to enhance our programs and better serve our community,” Prof. Barasa said.

The MOU is expected to be mutually beneficial for both Busia County and Alupe University, improving healthcare education, student training, and overall healthcare service delivery in the region. Through this initiative, both institutions aim to foster a new generation of skilled healthcare professionals dedicated to serving the local community and beyond.
