Women and girls suffering from fistula, a devastating condition that causes uncontrolled leakage of urine or stool, now have a chance to receive free treatment, thanks to a collaborative effort by the M-PESA Foundation, UNFPA, and Amref. The free treatment will take place at the Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital in Matisi Ward, Saboti Sub County, Trans Nzoia County, from 6th to 12th December 2024.
Fistula, often caused by prolonged and obstructed labor without timely medical intervention, leaves survivors stigmatized, isolated, and facing physical and emotional pain. This life-changing initiative aims to restore dignity and health to affected women and girls by providing them with specialized care and support.
According to the organizers, the treatment will be carried out by a team of experienced medical professionals dedicated to addressing this condition and educating the community on its prevention.
Women and girls suffering from this condition are encouraged to come forward and register for the treatment. Those living far from the hospital are urged to seek assistance to attend. This program is not just about treatment; it is also an opportunity to raise awareness about fistula and its preventable nature.
