Kapsiro Residents Protest Against Police Brutality

Angry residents in Kapsiro have taken to the streets to protest what they claim is rampant harassment by police officers in the area. The demonstrations escalated to the office of the Deputy County Commissioner as frustrations boiled over following an incident where a local teacher was allegedly beaten by police officers.

Residents say this is not an isolated case, accusing the security officers of routinely harassing them, particularly during nighttime. The locals have demanded urgent intervention from the government, including the immediate transfer of the officers in question. They threatened to hold daily protests until their grievances are addressed.

“This has to stop. The harassment is too much. We cannot sleep in peace, and now they are even attacking innocent people,” said one protestor during the march.

According to the residents, the situation has worsened to the point where the police station is being misused as a courtroom where suspects are intimidated, unfairly detained, and allegedly subjected to violence.

“We are living in fear. They arrest people unnecessarily and torment us. Men in our community are being targeted, and it’s as if they want to destroy the next generation,” another resident lamented.

The locals called on higher government authorities to intervene swiftly and ensure justice is served, warning that continued silence would only fuel their resolve to protest further.

The incident has sparked broader concerns about the conduct of some police officers and the need for accountability in law enforcement across the region. Residents remain adamant that without immediate action, demonstrations will persist.
