Leaders and Stakeholders Urged to Support Vulnerable Widows and Elderly in Bungoma

Religious and political leaders in Bungoma County have been called upon to unite in supporting widows and elderly individuals living in extreme poverty. This appeal was made by Bishop David Walumbe of the Word of Hope Church during a ceremony to build a house for widow Francis Famba in Munyofwe village, Webuye West.

Expressing his concern, Bishop Walumbe decried the harsh conditions many elderly and widowed individuals endure, noting that these poor living conditions often lead to preventable illnesses and even premature deaths. He emphasized the need for collective action to improve their quality of life and ensure they live with dignity.

Pastors Jackline Juma and Hellen Okwachi of the same church echoed the bishop’s sentiments, highlighting the severe hardships the widow had faced before receiving assistance. They called on the community to come together and offer critical support to these vulnerable groups, urging society to prioritize compassion and care for those in need.

The ceremony served as a reminder of the collective responsibility to address the plight of vulnerable groups and ensure they are provided with basic needs and the respect they deserve.
