Tensions Rise Ahead of Kakamega ODM Elections as Sub-County Chairpersons Oppose Election Officials

The upcoming ODM elections in Kakamega County, scheduled for the 27th of this month, face potential disruption after chairpersons from 12 sub-counties voiced strong objections to the list of 12 officials set to oversee the polls.

During a press briefing at the ODM Kakamega branch office, the sub-county chairpersons accused the party’s election board of bias, claiming that some of the appointed officials are employees of Kakamega County Women Representative Elsie Muhanda, while others are not ODM members. They demanded the national ODM board intervene to ensure a transparent and impartial process.

The chairpersons further alleged that the election board, led by Chana, excluded them from key decision-making processes. They warned that unless their concerns are addressed, they would disrupt the election.

The objections highlight growing internal divisions within the party's Kakamega branch, raising questions about the fairness and inclusivity of the election process. Stakeholders now await the ODM national board's response to resolve the impasse and ensure the elections proceed smoothly.
