Kakamega County Elevates Butere and Malava to Municipality Status for Transformative Growth

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has today officially upgraded Butere and Malava townships to Municipality status, marking a significant milestone in the county’s development agenda. This move, following the earlier elevation of Butere to Municipality status, is expected to bring about transformative growth, including enhanced infrastructure, improved services, and greater investment opportunities.

Speaking at the two events held in Butere and Malava Sub-Counties, Governor Barasa emphasized that the upgrade would lead to substantial improvements in key areas such as access to water, healthcare, education, road networks, security, and financial services. The new Municipality status also promises to attract more resources and investments, further accelerating the county's economic development.

"This elevation means better services and opportunities for our people. It will bring more resources, enhance our infrastructure, and foster economic growth through increased investor interest," Governor Barasa stated.

The Governor noted that the move would result in better access to government grants and an improved budget allocation, allowing for critical developments in social services like healthcare, water supply, and roads. Additionally, the upgrade is expected to open doors for new business ventures and boost local economic activity.

Deputy Governor Ayub Savula also commended Governor Barasa for these advancements, recognizing them as crucial steps toward the county’s sustained growth and prosperity. "This is a big win for our people, and it sets a clear path for further progress," Deputy Governor Savula said.

With these upgrades, both Butere and Malava are poised for accelerated growth, bringing tangible benefits to their residents and contributing to the broader development vision of Kakamega
