Three-Month-Old Baby Hospitalized in Busia After Brutal Assault by Father

A three-month-old baby is receiving treatment at the Busia County Referral Hospital after sustaining severe injuries inflicted by the father using a machete in Natais Constituency. The assault reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute.

According to the baby’s mother, the incident began as a domestic quarrel, which escalated into the violent act. She revealed that this was not the first time her husband had acted violently, adding that he had previously injured another of their children with a hammer, leaving the child permanently disabled.

“This is not the first time he has done something like this. He once attacked our other child with a hammer, and now that child lives with a disability,” the distraught mother recounted.

The perpetrator has since been arrested and is being held at the Matayos Police Station as investigations continue.

This tragic incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for more robust measures to address domestic violence. Community leaders and child protection advocates have urged authorities to ensure the safety of the affected family and to provide counseling and support for the victims.

The public has also been called upon to report any cases of domestic violence to prevent such devastating incidents in the future. Authorities have assured the family of justice, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children from harm in domestic settings.
